Learning to work with chance
The maker did not begin by trying to force every mark into place. The practice grew from observing how water carries color—sometimes quickly, sometimes almost imperceptibly—and learning when to guide the surface and when to leave it alone.
That balance gives every piece its character. Human decisions shape the process, but they never erase its natural uncertainty. A finished pattern is therefore not a copy of an original design. It is the original.
Traditional knowledge, an everyday form
The studio’s purpose is to bring the sensibility of floating-lacquer craft into contemporary life. Rather than treating the technique as decoration for special occasions only, we pair its expressive surfaces with modern bag shapes intended to be worn often.
Every pattern is formed and transferred by hand. Small variations and traces of process are not flaws to hide; they are evidence of the time, attention, and movement held by the object.

We make slowly and release work in small numbers. There is no promise that a sold pattern will return—because it cannot. What continues is the practice: color, water, hand, and another beginning.
